It takes about five minutes for the heater to warm up. Once its warm it can get reasonably cosy, although in extreme cold conditions the heater struggles.

I cheat - I have a 1kW 240v fan heater in the car and a remote control plug. When the car is parked at home, I turn the fan heater on remotely five minutes before I leave in the morning and the car is nice and snug by the time I leave.

The heater I'm talking about is not the built in G-Wiz heater (early G-Wiz's had a remote control heater for this purpose - mine does not), its just a normal 1kW fan heater that plugs into the mains.

Because my car is parked in a garage in the winter, I can have the heater plugged into the wall on a remote control switch and just switch it on five minutes before I leave to give me a cosy cabin.

It still means the built in heater takes a while to heat up, but now that isn't a problem because the cabin of the car remains warm and the windows then remain clear for my whole 20-30 minute journey.

First thing I would recommend - and this works well - is wash the windows and then polish with vinegar.

You can also buy some windscreen anti-mist spray to use on the inside of the windows. Some work better than others - the trick is to make sure the windscreen is clean first and then apply sparingly... if you use too much you get smears.

You can buy this anti-mist spray from here: http://www.awin1.com/pclick.php?p=47852 ... &referrer=

Once you've done that, you'll find that you'll either have a completely demisted windscreen in the morning, or it will clear within a few seconds.

As for a fan heater, I'm talking about a normal fan heater you can buy for your home. Robert Dyas do them for around £10 - http://www.awin1.com/pclick.php?p=95372 ... &referrer= - just use it on the lower fan setting and you'll be using around 1kW of power. Five minutes of that and the inside of the car is nice and warm!
