Soooo. For motorways (perhaps for other roads), the solution is to have a lane dedicated to the electric vehicles tootling along at 40/50mph. Why not fit induction technology, and remove range issues from EV's forever?

I was involved in induction loop technology very briefly back in the 1990s. The biggest problem with it is inefficiency - at the time we were looking at around 50% efficiency. I believe now they've got the efficiency up to around 80%, but its still a big loss.

Technically, its all possible but I think the costs for implementing it would outweigh the benefits. I think the current problems with batteries and range will be resolved long before this sort of technology could be implemented.

1. How long do the new Lithium batts last and what do they work out cost wize per mile?

2. How much will it cost to replace them and how often.

3. As a cost per year or per mile which batterys work out cheaper?
