THE ELLA DORAN G-WIZ (GoinGreen press release)

Postby MB » 10 Jun 2008 20:01

GoinGreen, the retailer of the G-Wiz EV, has teamed up with designer Ella Doran to produce a limited edition G-Wiz featuring one of Ella’s signature designs, Sunlight Through Leaves, which will be available to order for a limited six-month period from 9 June 2008.

This is GoinGreen’s second designer collaboration following last year’s limited edition Eley Kishimoto G-Wiz and Steve Hartridge, managing director of GoinGreen says, ‘We love the fact that our already unique G-Wiz is totally complemented by Ella Doran’s idiosyncratic approach to design. And the Sunlight Through Leaves design gives the G-Wiz a really fresh and summery look’.

Ella Doran’s work is instantly recognisable; she transforms every day objects into design via clever manipulation of the photographic image that is then applied to anything from a pasta bowl to wrapping paper. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was the Laurent Perrier ‘Eureka Designer of the Year’ in 2006. She has a shop in Cheshire Street, London, E2 and a flourishing product design business, with clients including Tate Enterprises and a very successful relationship with John Lewis that in 2007 was rewarded with a nomination for the prestigious Walpole Awards for luxury brands. This year, Ella is one of the lead designers for the Liverpool Design Show a Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008 event. The Sunlight Through Leaves design is available on other Ella Doran products including cushions, mugs and silk window hangings. http://www.elladoran.co.uk

‘The G-Wiz intrigued me when I first started to see it around, it has a quirky look and it has always made me smile. Now that I drive one with my own design on it, I have a very wide smile on my face, ‘ says Ella Doran.

GoinGreen is the creator of the UK carbon neutral automotive market and according to Newsweek (25/2/08), is ‘the largest zero-emissions auto distributor on the planet today’ and has won 25 awards in the four years since it brought the zero-emission electric G-Wiz to London in May 2004. The company launched the third version of the G-Wiz, the improved performance G-Wiz i in February this year with a range of up to 48 miles per charge, a certified top speed of 50mph, increased safety features and is upgradeable to take lithium ion batteries, when they are introduced. Full details at http://www.goingreen.co.uk. The G-Wiz is exempt from the London Congestion Charge and benefits from free parking and recharging in the City of Westminster (which now has 60 recharging points) with many other boroughs now also installing recharging points and offering incentives for EV owners. The Ella Doran G-Wiz starts at £10,290 and is available for a limited period only.

That looks nice!  Really eye-catching.
But hang on... it looks like they've used an old AC model for the makeover.  That isn't a G-Wiz i windscreen on that car!

I like that colour-scheme!  It's nice to see something completely different.
