Cheapest insurance??

Postby Clivey » 07 Jul 2008 17:01

Hello good people, I'd like your thoughts on where I can get the cheapest Third party, fire and theft insurance for an 05 G-wiz?

Cheers, Clivey :-))

Two places for you to try. We used to be insured with elephant.co.uk, but we have just changes to More Than as they were much cheaper, our quote was under £200.

Yeah, but look where you live. It wouldn't surprise me if people in your neck of the woods paid a few bob extra when it comes to insurance.

Our insurance is fully comp - the lowest quote we got from More Than was £177.  Last year, Elephant were the cheapest at £230.

The car is parked on a driveway overnight.

It is definately worth shopping around, as some people have found differences of several hundreds of pounds.

When bought my Gwiz I did a HPI check on it and part of the deal with the HPI check was 7 days free incurance with Norwich Union - when you get a quote. They quoted me £197.
I now get my car insurance from LloydsTSB as they do £80 cash back via quidco.com - so if Lloydsmatched the quote I would then get the £80 back making it just £117.

£197 sounds good.  We're paying £230, but that is with protected NCD, comprehensive and London postcode.  Tesco, not the best on customer service, but named driver earns NCD.

Paddy, that site is in my favorite already. It is a site I would recommend to all to visit and have a read. There is a huge forum covering all things money saving - unsuprisingly.

Paddy - no problem with me.  Thanks for sharing that.

Looks like some people have had some good quotes.  I have certainly found it significantly cheaper to insure the G-Wiz this year compared to last.
